IT field engineering services in Ireland

Our engineers provide hands-on support at offices, data centres, retail units and industrial sites across Ireland:

Where we support businesses in Ireland

We support sites in and around Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford. The greater Dublin area holds most of Ireland’s data centre capacity, so remote hands and smart hands work there is a large share of requests.

Share your Irish site list and we will confirm which locations we cover and at what service level.

Doing IT field work in Ireland: what to know

Ireland looks close to the UK, and in many ways it is. But it is an EU member state, and that changes some of the rules for field work.

Language and time zone

English is the main business language, so site paperwork and engineer reports need no translation. Ireland shares the UK’s time zone, which makes it easy for a UK or European service desk to manage: dispatch windows line up with British working hours.

Office hours are broadly similar to the UK, but many large sites, particularly in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and technology, run shifts and controlled areas. Engineers may need gowning, site-specific safety inductions or an escort before touching equipment. Capture these requirements at onboarding, and keep the same small group of engineers on a site where you can, so inductions are not repeated on every visit.

Public holidays

Ireland’s holiday calendar is not the same as the UK’s. It includes St Patrick’s Day, St Stephen’s Day and an October bank holiday, and St Brigid’s Day became a public holiday in 2023. The Citizens Information guide to public holidays lists the full set. If your contract counts “business days” using a UK calendar, an Irish site can lose a day of next-business-day cover without anyone noticing. Use the Irish calendar for Irish sites.

Data protection

Ireland applies the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) alongside the Data Protection Act 2018. The Data Protection Commission (DPC) is the Irish supervisory authority for GDPR. Many international technology firms have their EU base in Ireland, so engineers often work in tightly controlled environments. Expect clear rules on media handling, device returns and photography on site. Agree them in writing before the first dispatch, so every engineer follows the same steps.

Data centre access

Dublin’s data centres sit mainly on the western and northern edges of the city. Facilities usually require named access requests, photo ID and inductions, and hyperscale sites can be stricter still. Build access lead times into your response targets, because the clock often starts before the engineer is cleared to enter.

Parts and logistics

Since Brexit, parts moving from Great Britain to Ireland are exports to the EU and need customs declarations, as GOV.UK guidance on exporting goods from the UK explains. Northern Ireland follows different rules for goods, so do not assume a Belfast depot behaves like one in Great Britain. For tight response targets, keep critical spares in Ireland or elsewhere in the EU.

How it works

The model plugs into your existing ticketing and service desk:

  1. Scope: you share your sites in Ireland, the equipment and the service level you need.
  2. Coverage plan: we confirm which locations we cover and propose the right service tier for each.
  3. Onboarding: we join your vendor panel and agree the process for raising and closing jobs.
  4. Dispatch: you log a job; we send a vetted engineer to site.
  5. Close-out: the engineer completes the work and reports back with notes and evidence.

Frequently asked questions

Can you provide next business day engineers in Ireland?

Service levels are confirmed per site after you share your locations. Tell us the response you need for each Irish site and we will confirm what we can commit to.

Do you support data centres in Dublin?

Yes. We support remote hands and smart hands work in data centres in and around Dublin, working within each facility’s access and induction rules.

Does Ireland use the same bank holidays as the UK?

No. Ireland has its own public holidays, including St Patrick’s Day and St Brigid’s Day, so we plan cover against the Irish calendar.

Can parts be shipped from the UK for repairs in Ireland?

Yes, but parts from Great Britain need customs declarations, which can add time. For fast fixes we recommend holding spares inside the EU.

Do I need an Irish company to use your engineers?

No. You contract with Throne Solutions directly and we supply the engineers, without you setting up an Irish entity or payroll.
